Founder

Dean Skira is the founder of Skira Architectural Lighting, an award-winning architectural lighting practice based in Pula, Croatia with projects worldwide. For the past 30 years, Dean is building and creating mostly with intangible forms. In 1986 he relocated to the United States to study interior and lighting design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. In 1990 he established his first business in the US before returning to Croatia in 1995. 

Dean's sustainable and adaptive lighting strategy takes into account the people, the architecture, the implementation of light and shadows and influential factors covered by his holistic design approach.

Dean received international awards as a lighting designer, a product designer for his notable projects and product designs, and as an investor for his office building. He is a Member of the IALD, IES and HDR Croatian Lighting Society. Dean is a published author and a frequent lecturer around the globe.
